Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 12 Months
We invite you to join our friendly and supportive team responsible for delivering change for children and young people in Leicester. Commissioning across Children’s Social Care, Special Education Needs, Early Help and Education teams, this work means you will be integral to supporting our workforce to deliver the outstanding, quality care that they are so dedicated to providing to the most vulnerable children and young people in the city.
This is a full time, fixed term position working 37 hours per week (over 12 months). You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at across City Centre offices including City Hall and New Parks House or working remotely from home to suit your needs.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work closely with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, forging relationships for the council. Delivering our vision, in partnership with providers, care staff, NHS and those who draw on care and support, with the guidance of the Lead Commissioner and Senior Business Change Commissioning Manager.
You’ll contribute to improving the outcomes for children and adults living in Leicester, by developing and implementing strategic commissioning priorities and plans, and project managing commissioning reviews.
As a strategic thinker you will be contributing towards the overarching 3-year strategies within Special Education Needs and Disabilities and Children’s Social Care. Such as, the Independent review of Specialist Placements and the Placement Sufficiency Strategy.
What you’ll need
We are looking for experience of working within the commissioning process in social care, health, or housing support services. We need you to have strong change management and outstanding communication skills. You’ll be able to work effectively with people who use services, respecting and supporting people’s experiences, lifestyles and backgrounds. This is how we ensure we meet service needs and have a focus on improving people’s quality of life. The ability to form effective partnerships and manage relationships with colleagues, external partners, and other key stakeholders is a critical part of this role.
Excellent report writing skills, combined with highly developed analytical ability, mean that you will be able to interpret complex information and translate it into clear proposals aimed at driving improvements within our commissioned services and support. This will extend to your ability to write policy and strategy documents that bring about important change and that reflect the ambitions to protect and empower those who rely on our services.
As an excellent leader you will lead project teams and confidently co-ordinate work. With your brilliant planning and organisational skills and a clear focus on the delivery of key objectives to specified timescales, you will plan, manage and deliver change projects as directed by the Lead Commissioner.
