Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service offer a large and diverse program of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. We have an enthusiastic student community, taught, and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Curriculum Coordinator for our English and Maths programs. As a confident, emerging and/or experienced leader, you’ll oversee the development of a curriculum which meets the needs of learners, ensuring quality and compliance in accordance with Service and Awarding Body requirements. Based in the English, Maths, ESOL team and working closely with key stakeholders and partners, you’ll ensure that all learning meets strategic priorities and quality standards.
Based at the Adult Education College, you’ll be required to visit settings across the city. This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday including evenings and on occasions some weekends.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead a team of tutors and lead tutors in the delivery of a high quality, city wide service. You’ll ensure strategies to improve learner retention, achievement and progression are in place and an ethos of continuous improvement is adopted by the team to work towards the service aspiration for becoming an outstanding learning provider. With a modern and inspirational approach to teaching, learning and assessment and a good understanding of quality assurance processes and creative learning resources, you’ll develop and implement a broad and balanced curriculum with progression routes for learners and employers. You’ll have an understanding and appreciation of the development, delivery and promotion of online learning.
What you’ll need
With previous experience of teaching adults in a relevant subject area, modelling excellent practice and with a demonstrable record of innovation, you’ll be a qualified teacher at level 5 as well as have a relevant subject qualification at level 4 or above. You’ll have experience of observation of teaching, learning and assessment practice. Using excellent communication skills (verbal, interpersonal and presentation), you’ll be able to engage a variety of audiences and lead your team to achieve positive results. With proficient writing and data analysis skills, you’ll be able to produce clear and concise reports and records.
