Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Make a difference to the citizens of Leicester and their health and wellbeing.
Join us to deliver the expansion of the stop smoking service with a key focus on delivering a secondary care treatment programme for tobacco addiction.
This programme focuses on working with community and hospital-based midwives and maternity support workers, to provide Stop Smoking support to pregnant women and promote smoke free pregnancies and smoke free homes. We ensure health professionals are adequately trained to support women and their families with health improvement measures, during their pregnancy and post-natal period.
We have a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week. You’ll be able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends by agreement, to provide sessions to meet service user needs. You’ll work across the 2 hospital sites – Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital.
What you’ll be doing
As a key part of the Maternity services team, you’ll work predominantly in hospital wards and clinics to counsel pregnant women on stopping smoking. You’ll manage a caseload of clients and monitor their progress, as well as make further referrals to other services to support clients to enhance their health and wellbeing. This will include planning and delivering treatment sessions, using motivational interviewing techniques, and providing clients with tools to help them with stopping smoking.
What you’ll need
With previous experience of supporting individuals to change their behaviour and helping them to facilitate these changes, you’ll understand the impact of smoking on an individual’s and baby’s health. Using excellent verbal and written communication skills, you’ll be able to listen actively, provide clear explanations and clinical advice to patients and health professionals. You’ll be able to engage, influence and persuade others, whilst motivating them to make a change and stop smoking. As a proficient IT user, you’ll be able to confidently maintain accurate records on the client record management systems. Self -motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate, you’ll be dedicated to the stop smoking agenda to achieve the best outcomes.
