Are you a Group Exercise Instructor who can deliver motivating and engaging sessions for all ages and ability levels?
Active Leicester run group exercise class across leisure centres in the city. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified group exercise instructor who wants to help grow and develop our programme. Join us and you’ll become a valued member of our highly motivated, passionate, and dynamic team. We offer a suite of exercises classes including Zumba, HIIT, Legs and Tums, Spin classes and many more. We are particularly looking for instructors ideally experienced in delivering Yoga and Pilates classes.
We have up to 10 hours per week, fixed term contracts for 12 months. Hours of work may include morning, daytime, evenings, and weekends. There are set days each week, however this may change to best suit our programme and centres. You’ll be based at one of the leisure centres but have the flexibility to work across the various sites.
We also have an opportunity for you to join us as a Casual Group Exercise Instructor. As a casual worker, you’ll benefit from working as many shifts as you would like on an ad hoc basis but will be dependent on the programme of classes/session that are scheduled. Shifts may be during the day and evening, from Monday to Sunday.
The rate of pay is £12.70 - £13.91 per hour. This post has been awarded a temporary market supplement therefore the hourly rate of pay will be £17.20 per hour.
What you’ll be doing
As a Group Exercise Instructor, you’ll work closely with the leisure centre teams to deliver group exercise classes to Active Leicester members, ensuring you create a safe and welcoming environment for physical activity. You’ll prepare activity space, set up and dismantle necessary equipment before and after sessions. You’ll develop and supervise a programme of exercise, assess the fitness levels of participants, and provide expert advice to users of the service. You’ll play a key role in expanding the health and fitness offering at Active Leicester and help deliver our vision.
What you’ll need
With an appropriate level 2 award in Group Exercise e.g. Exercise to Music, Group Cycling, Bootcamp etc, you’ll have previous instructing experience. You’ll have a good understanding of devising and delivering engaging group exercise classes for participants of varying abilities and from a variety backgrounds and cultures. Alongside a passion for physical activity you’ll demonstrate a knowledge of the barriers to participation and how these can be overcome to increase participant engagement. Using excellent communication skills, you’ll deliver high levels of customer service and be able to appropriately deal with irate or distressed customers. You’ll be able to motivate and encourage members of all ages to ensure everyone feels confident within your sessions.
