This is a fantastic opportunity for a full-time permanent Approved Mental Health Professional to join our AMHP service, working within our out of hours Emergency Duty Team which covers Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We wish to recruit people who can bring a clear social care perspective and strong social work values to these challenging posts. In return we will support you with all the resources needed including responsive line management, individual and team development opportunities and the support of an experienced and high performing team.
Currently you’ll be working from home, however, there will be the possibility of being based with Health and/or Police colleagues in the future. To do this you’ll be provided with IT equipment to work with agility and flexibility.
Working pattern will be as follows:
Emergency Duty Team Shifts within the following hours: Monday to Thursday 4.30 pm to 8.30. Friday 4 pm to 8.30 am. Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 8.30 am to 8.30 am.
What you'll be doing:
As the Social Worker you'll provide cover to the Emergency Duty team and act as an Approved Mental Health Professional undertaking assessments and compiling plans under the Mental Health act. You’ll be asked to produce clear reports for tribunal or manager’s panels. You’ll provide cover over the telephone and undertake necessary visits to individuals’ places of residences, providing advice and support to the residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. In addition, you’ll also deal with any safeguarding enquiries regarding these same individuals. With this, you'll sometimes be faced with sensitive and distressing crisis situations that you must be confident to deal with alone. On occasion, you'll be asked to complete reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals.
The Emergency Duty Team is responsible for responding to requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act and Safeguarding concerns outside of office hours. You'll be working alongside Health colleagues, the police, EMAS, the voluntary sector. You'll work closely with people and their families to assess risks and identify opportunities to mitigate these.
What you'll need:
The ideal candidate will have experience of completing clear complex assessments under the Mental Health Act acting as an Approved mental Health Professional. You will have clear knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act and various other legislation. You'll possess excellent analytical and written skills. You'll have empathy and sensitivity towards distressing information and crisis situations. You'll be able to work alone, with support from an on call manager.
If you hold a Professional qualification with Approved Mental Health professional status – documentary evidence of both will be needed along with a current Social Worker/Nurse/Occupational Therapist and Psychologist registration, then we would love to hear from you.
