Since its opening in 1913, the hall and gardens has held music concerts, royal visits, comedy shows, company dances, pantos and so much more. Putting on circa 250 performances per year, it is a vibrant and exciting place to work with a real diverse variety of live shows and events.Join us as a Casual Bar Assistant and you’ll be a part of a welcoming and friendly team. You’ll work in a busy, fast paced environment to prepare and serve drinks and snacks in one of the bars before, during and after the event or show.With the benefit of being a casual worker, you’ll have the opportunity to work as many shifts as you would like however shifts will be dependent on the programme of event that are scheduled. Shifts may be anytime during the day and evening, from Monday to Sunday.
What you’ll be doing
As a customer focussed Bar Assistant, you’ll serve drinks and snacks with the correct tariff charged in a timely manner. You’ll ensure stocks are available and rotated to be able to provide a quality service whilst maintaining clean and tidy work and public areas. At the end of each shift, you’ll reconcile your till in accordance with procedures. Adhering to all regulations especially Food Hygiene and Liquor Licensing Laws, you’ll ensure you provide excellent customer service which may include dealing with any issues that may arise. You’ll carry out remedial cleaning and manual handling to ensure a clean, presentable environment for our valued customers. This will include mopping up spills, cleaning touch points, loading and unloading dishwashers, collecting used glasses, and cleaning the bar.
What you’ll need
With proven experience in a bar and catering environment, you’ll have experience of cash/card handling or ability to do this. Ideally, you’ll have Food and Hygiene certificates, however we will provide all the relevant training. You’ll have knowledge of Health and Safety and be able to put this into practice to ensure the safety yourself and the customers. You’ll be numerate with good written skills to be able to calculate and reconcile your till and update records. Using strong communication skills, you’ll work with accuracy and speed to ensure customers are served efficiently as well as be able to deal with potentially difficult customers in a tactful and diplomatic way.As the role requires serving alcoholic drinks, you must be over 18 years of age.
