Don’t worry if you don’t already hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. We are offering PAID NPLQ training so that you can join us without any experience and progress to a fully qualified Lifeguard and become a valued member of our new dynamic sports service.
For those candidates who are successful after the swim test/interview and are committed to working. You’ll be given one to one support and training to ensure you have a positive experience and achieve your full potential.
Shift Pattern
You will be required to work on a shift pattern which will include Early, Evenings and Weekends. Our leisure centres are typically open 6am - 10pm. You will be required to be flexiable across these times. The role will be placed at one of our leisure centres Find a sport and leisure centre (leicester.gov.uk)
Our current permanent vacancies including posts at:
Cossington Street Sport Centre 12 hours per week
Spence Street Sport Centre 37 hours per week
Ayelstone Leisure Centre 37 hours per week
What you’ll be doing
You’ll assist with the day to day running of the facility, providing the highest standard of customer service whilst ensuring the health and safety of customers. This will include being responsible for pool supervision ensuring bathers are safe and follow rules to prevent accidents and vandalism. You’ll be responsible for remedial cleaning of the building and will be required to set up and take down equipment for activities. As a strong swimmer, you’ll respond to pool emergencies.
What you’ll need
You’ll be a confident swimmer and willing to undertake our paid lifeguard training. The NPLQ course will take place when you start employment with Leicester City Council. You'll need to be available to complete the training for this qualification.
