Working in a fast-paced finance environment you’ll lead our Capital team, who are currently involved in a range of exciting, unique and significant capital projects. These include programmes of work across all our divisions for example Connecting Leicester in Planning, Development and Transportation, Malcolm Arcade Refurbishment in Estates and Building Services and many more.

This is a full time, permanent position where you’ll be based at City Hall with the opportunity to also work remotely from home when desired. The core working hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm on a Friday but benefit from our flexible working hours policy.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead and direct the team who are responsible for capital accounting, including supporting budget monitoring and setting. It’s not surprising that in this role you’ll be well established in the council as the finance expert on significant capital project boards. You’ll be fundamental in the production of the Statement of Accounts and will assist with leading the process.
What you'll need
Using your specialist knowledge in capital you’ll ensure we meet our statutory and management accounting responsibilities. You’ll be an experienced, qualified accountant who has specific experience in capital. In addition, you’ll have previously worked within a large organisation, preferably in local government setting. You’ll have an aptitude for understanding and interpreting legislation, along with extensive experience of budgeting and forecasting.
Highly organised you’ll able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise tasks of your team and your own workload in order to meet set objectives, targets and deadlines. As the Senior, you’ll be decisive, creative and innovative when it comes to problem-solving. Your experience and knowledge will give you the confidence to have courage in your convictions making you the perfect person for this role.
