Casual / Term Time / Occasional Weekends
Join us and be an asset to our Transport Development Team within Leicester City Council’s Highways and Transportation Division. This exciting opportunity is to deliver road safety education in schools, colleges, and other groups as appropriate. This position will be based at various locations around Leicester.
With the benefit of being a casual worker, you’ll have the opportunity to work as many shifts as you would like but will be dependent on the programme of the schools schedule. This casual post and hours may vary. It will largely be based around school hours but some weekend work teaching adults to cycle may also be required.
What You’ll be doing
You’ll travel to a school and meet with Lead Instructor and Lead Staff member. You’ll help check the bikes and ensure that they are safe and ready to use.
You’ll Introduce yourself to the Young People and help get them prepared for cycling. You’ll support the Lead Instructor to deliver ‘Bikeability’ Training initially in the playground and then moving to the streets around the school.
What you’ll need
It is desirable that the applicant has ‘Bikeability’ training qualifications. However, training can be provided.
The ideal candidate will need to be able to ride a bicycle and have an awareness of road safety, experience of delivering training to school children and able to keep calm and keep control of a group.
