We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our vibrant and dynamic Capital Projects Team of likeminded individuals where you’ll be empowered and trusted to help shape, improve and implement positive changes as we deliver construction based projects across one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities. What’s more? You’ll always have plenty of variety in this evolving role. No two days will be the same, from building new schools one day to refurbishing care homes the next, all for the benefit of people in Leicester.
The role is permanent and full time, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday with our flexible working scheme. They’ll be no long distance travelling! All site visits will be based in the City, so you’ll need the ability to travel by own vehicle or public transport. You’ll also have the option to work from our modern office at City Hall, or remotely such as home-working to suit your needs.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll need to motivate, develop and lead the team in a range of tasks, from estimating and tendering for work, to surveying and contracting support services. Advising and supporting them on a range of issues such as cost estimation and you’ll ensure the projects are delivered on time and within budget.
You’ll work closely with internal Project Managers, architects and engineers, and build good working relationships with interdepartmental teams such as, Finance, Procurement and Legal.
What you’ll need
With the ability to organise, develop and support a team and manage materials, you’ll have experience of engaging contractors, supervising their work and authorising payments. As an articulate communicator and good problem-solver, you’ll need the character to handle sensitive issues effectively and the drive to ensure projects meet both deadlines and financial targets. You’ll also need an MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor or Senior Surveyor qualification with experience in a construction cost and commercial team environment.
