Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. We have a diverse, enthusiastic learning community, taught and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Lead Tutor for our Employability and Digital learning programmes. As a skilled, experienced, and passionate teacher, you’ll support the Curriculum Coordinator in the development, implementation, and monitoring of this programme area. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the service meets its commitment to Leicester residents to develop skills to get into work or progress in a work environment.
You’ll work in a variety of settings across the City and will be able to travel anywhere. This is a part-time permanent post working 18.5 hours per week including evenings. You’ll be expected to maintain a 100-hour teaching commitment in an academic year.
What you’ll be doing
Using excellent teaching skills and knowledge, you'll advise, motivate and support a team of tutors to deliver a high quality and effective programme of learning. You’ll ensure strategies to improve learner retention, achievement and progression are in place and an ethos of continuous improvement is adopted to work towards the service aspiration for becoming an outstanding learning provider. With a modern and inspirational approach to teaching, learning and assessment and with a good understanding of ILT in the classroom and creative learning resources, you will ensure a positive learning experience is in place for all learners.
What you’ll need
With a Level 5 teaching qualification, you’ll have recent experience of teaching adults in a subject area which will develop employability and digital skills. You’ll have a level 2 English qualification and a level 4 subject specialism. Having a good understanding of quality standards and the ability to implement strategies for continuous improvement, you’ll have experience of observation of teaching, learning and assessment practice. Using your excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, you will motivate and support tutors to deliver outstanding lessons.
