Play a pivotal role in making a significant difference to some of the most vulnerable people in the city.
Our work is extremely challenging, but also extremely rewarding, changing lives for the better by tackling homelessness, building new homes, and strengthening communities. Engaging with people at a local level, we support them by delivering services that improve their lives.
Homelessness levels are currently at an all-time high, both locally and nationally, which provides robust challenges to our service. Working on the front line, you’ll liaise with customers either face-to-face, over the telephone or conduct home visits. You'll have to regularly navigate sensitive situations. You’ll have a large and complex allocated caseload; you'll assist homeless single adults or families back into permanent accommodation. You’ll provide support, mainly via signposting to appropriate services, to those who may be struggling with substance misuse, break down in relationships, job loss, mental or physical health problems, facing domestic abuse.
Putting the customer needs at the heart of everything you do, you'll offer the best housing solutions with understanding and care. You’ll be resilient with and the ability to manage in a fast-paced environment, where tasks and priorities change in an instant. You’ll be able to deal with potentially stressful situations in a calm manner and be able to think clearly to find solutions. With excellent interpersonal and listening skills, you’ll be able to empathise with clients, and build a strong and trusting relationship. Ideally, you’ll have worked with homeless people or worked in a similar field, undertaking assessments with people facing difficult and complex situations, and providing support in their time of need.
