De Montfort Hall is situated at the edge of the city's Victoria Park and has acted as a cultural beacon for the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and beyond for nearly 110 years. Since its opening in 1913, the hall and gardens has held music concerts, royal visits, comedy shows, company dances, pantos and so much more. Putting on circa 250 performances per year, it is a vibrant and exciting place to work with a real diverse variety of live shows and events.
Join us as a Casual Steward and you’ll be a part of a welcoming and friendly team. You’ll work in a busy, fast paced environment to work with the Front of House Supervisors to ensure the safety of our customers and venue before, during and after the event or show.
With the benefit of being a casual worker, you’ll have the opportunity to work as many shifts as you would like but that will be dependent on the programme of events that are scheduled. We ask that you commit to a minimum of five shifts per month and that you are able to work during the day and evening, from Monday to Sunday. Please do not apply for this role unless you can fully agree to these arrangements.
Rate of pay £11.79 per hour.
What you’ll be doing
As a Casual Steward, you’ll assist in providing support to customers at De Montfort Hall. This includes selling merchandise, programmes and ice creams and providing access for customers who may require additional assistance. With an awareness of situations and the environment, you’ll spot potential issues before they become a problem and keep the safety of all customers and staff at the forefront during every shift. On shows, such as rock concerts, you’ll look after artists when signings take place and assist with the crowd when performance acts leave the venue.
What you’ll need
You’ll have experience in ideally a similar busy entertainment environment and have good knowledge of Health and Safety and be able to put this into practice to ensure the safety of our customers, staff, and yourself. With good numeracy and literacy skills you’ll be able to take cash or card, use the tills and update records. You’ll have excellent verbal communication skills and with a positive manner, you’ll be able to de-escalate difficult and challenging incidents, whilst maintaining a calm outlook. You’ll be physically fit to be able stand for long period of time, as well as be able to assist with setting up the hall ready for the show/event to take place.
