Get Inspired is a multifaceted £3.9 million project funded by the European Social Fund, to provide employability support for young people who are not in employment, education, and provide training to reduce youth unemployment. A key part of the programme is to support those with special educational needs and disabilities, or who are care experienced or young people from marginalised communities.
Join us to become a valued member of the Youth Employment Hub in Leicester City Centre which forms part of our wider Connexions service.
This is a full time post working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday. Typical working hours are 8.30am-5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-4.30pm on a Friday. However, on occasion you may be required to work out of these hours. You’ll be based at The Youth Employment Hub however you’ll be required to travel across the city to undertake site visits with remote working from home also available when possible. Part time applicants may be considered for this role.
We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. If you wish to apply for this post on a secondment basis, then please ensure you have your line manager’s approval before applying.
What you’ll be doing
Your work will involve meeting young people in a variety of community and neighbourhood settings across the city. Working closely with colleagues, training providers and employers, you’ll provide employment and training advice to identified young people to integrate them into the labour market. You’ll provide practical guidance and support to young people aged 16-25 by advising on how to write CV’s, complete application forms and improve on their interview and assessments skills. You’ll manage a caseload of young people and provide ongoing encouragement to help them overcome barriers that prevent their capacity to engage with learning and education and employment. You’ll signpost them to other agencies and partners and enable them to access information which will assist them in finding suitable employment. Using different forms of media and social media, you’ll market and promote opportunities as well as provide clear and accurate information for young people.
What you'll need
With experience of working with young people, providing them with advice and guidance, you’ll have knowledge and understanding of the challenges and issues facing young people, businesses, individuals, and communities and how these can be addressed. Using your excellent interpersonal skills and expertise, you'll be able to relate to young people to gain an understanding of their needs and kickstart their potential in the world of employment. With your ability to proactively engage, develop and motivate young people, you’ll raise their aspirations to ensure a positive progression into employment, education, or training.
Appointment to this role will be based on an Enhanced Children’s DBS and Driving License check. You must have access to a vehicle to be able to travel to various locations around Leicester City.
