Would you like to play a key role in providing Information Advice and Guidance to young people aged 13-25?
Connexions is seeking a Personal Adviser to provide Information, Advice and Guidance to young people to help them to make well informed choices about their future education, training or employment. You will provide Careers Guidance to young people in a variety of setting including schools, college and training provider premises to help them participate in learning.
A key part of the role is to support those in education who are more vulnerable to NEET including support to those with special educational needs or who are care experienced or young people from marginalised communities. You will provide practical help and support with CV’s, applications, interview skills and assessments.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Adviser to join the Connexions service and be a valued member of our team in Leicester, meeting with young people in a variety of community and neighbourhood settings across the city. Working closely with colleagues, training providers and employers, you’ll provide employment and training advice to identified young people to integrate them into the labour market.
This is a full-time (37 hours), fixed term post ending in December 2023.Core working hours will be 8.30am till 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am till 4.30pm on a Friday. These hours will involve working from home along with visits to schools and community-based settings.
What you’ll be doing:
As an experienced Adviser, you’ll provide impartial careers guidance and support to young people aged 13 - 25 by advising them on applications beyond Year 11 education - including college applications, apprenticeship and training opportunities. Provide advice on how to write CV’s, complete application forms and improve on their interview and assessments skills. You’ll manage a caseload of young people and provide ongoing encouragement to help them overcome barriers that prevent their capacity to engage with learning and education and employment.
What you'll need:
With experience of working with young people, providing them with information, advice and guidance, you’ll also have experience of working with clients who have faced significant barriers to entering employment and education and advocating on their behalf.
You’ll have knowledge and understanding of the challenges and issues facing young people, businesses, individuals, and communities and how these can be addressed. Using excellent interpersonal skills and your expertise, you'll be able to relate to young people to gain an understanding of their needs and help them to plan for their future career aspirations. With your ability to proactively engage, develop and motivate young people, you’ll raise their aspirations to ensure a positive progression into employment, education, or training.
This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. In addition, a full driving license will be required.
