We’re currently recruiting for 1 full-time Adult Social Workers (Level 2 or 3). This is a six-month temp posisition within the Care Management Team.
In Forensics, the team predominantly focuses on individuals who have been through the criminal justice system, working alongside a range of partner agencies, such as: The Police, Probation, Health, Ministry of Justice, Prison Service, Housing and voluntary organisations. The main goal of this team is to provide a safe and consistent service to individuals who have come to us via the forensic route. This team has an established range of professionals working alongside each other to support the every-day work and also manages risk under Multi-Disciplinary Team approaches.
The Care Management Team is an established team providing assessments under the Care Act. Not dis-similar to the Forensic Team they also work alongside a range of partner agencies. The main goal of this team is to assess individuals using a Strengths based model working alongside other agencies to achieve better outcomes for the people of Leicester.
Despite their differences both teams will support you with all the resources needed including responsive line management, individual and team development opportunities and the support of an experienced and high performing team.
Currently both posts are being advertised as Home working however, there is the possibility of spending some days with colleagues sharing an office with our Health colleagues at the Glenfield hospital site.
The core working hours for both roles is 37 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday 8.30am-5.00pm and 8.30am-4.30pm on Friday.
What you’ll be doing:
As an Adult Social Worker your day to day duties will include managing a caseload of people, undertaking duty functions and any necessary assessments under the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. In addition, you’ll be expected to conduct safeguarding investigations and chair meetings with a variety of partner agencies.
You’ll be working within a Multi-Disciplinary team approach alongside a range of professionals supporting each other to deliver high quality care to the people of Leicester. You’ll assess the needs of those we care for and place plans for the provision of care to adults and older people with complex needs, including but not specific to: those physically disabled, those suffering from mental health issues, those effected by substance misuse issues, those struggling with carer problems, those who have learning difficulties and people struggling with sensory/age-related problems. You'll often be faced with distressing crisis situations that must be dealt with in a sensitive way.
You’ll work in partnership with the individuals and where appropriate agree plans that are unique and specific to meeting their assessed needs. Using a strengths-based approach, you’ll work positively with the people of Leicester to achieve better outcomes.
As well as all the above, you'll also be expected to produce clear reports for tribunal or manager’s panels. On occasion, you’ll be asked to complete reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals.
What you'll need:
We wish to recruit people who can bring a clear social care perspective and strong social work values to these challenging posts. The successful candidate will have substantial experience of working with at least one of the following mental health issues, substance misuse issues, physical, sensory, age-related, and learning disabilities amongst adults and their carers, in a paid or voluntary capacity or as part of their qualification.
In addition, you’ll be able to showcase knowledge of health and safety legislation with enough confidence to operate the concept of personalisation understanding the benefits this can have within integrated care.
You’ll need to be disciplined with yourself and others, have excellent organisation skills to prioritise your workload and be able to work under pressure in a busy and often difficult job role.
In addition, you’ll have great interpersonal skills. You’ll be able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people from varied and diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and educations in both verbal and written contexts. As a confident person you’ll be able to match your approach to the needs of each individual as they are encountered with a flexible and no-nonsense approach.
Due to the nature of this role you’ll be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, need to be registered with Social Work England and hold a valid driving UK licence.
From 11 November 2021, care homes must only allow individuals to enter the home to work if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (or medically exempt). This role involves entering a care home, therefore you will be asked to provide evidence of your vaccination status as a condition of employment.
