We’re currently recruiting for 3 full-time Permanent Adult Social Worker (Level 3) in the learning Disability Duty Team and Learning Disabilities Care Management Team.
The core working hours for both roles is 37 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday 8.30am-5.00pm and 8.30am-4.30pm on Friday.
The Learning Disability Team is currently working remotely, however is looking at returning back to City Hall in 2022 with a flexible approach to working.
What you’ll be doing:
As an Adult Social Worker your day to day duties will include managing a caseload, undertaking duty functions, carrying out visits and any necessary assessments under the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act. An understanding of Transforming Care Programme, Mental Health Act and Continuing Health Care would be beneficial. In addition, you’ll be expected to conduct safeguarding investigations and chair meetings with a variety of partner agencies.
You’ll assess the needs of those we care for and create support plans for adults with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, mental health and substance misuse issues, physical, sensory and age-related difficulties with complex needs. You'll often be faced with distressing crisis situations that must be dealt with in a sensitive way. You will be expected to work alongside a range of professionals to undertake a Multi-Disciplinary team approach in ensuring that we can deliver high quality care for the people of Leicester.
You’ll work in partnership with the individuals and where appropriate agree plans that are unique and specific to meeting their assessed needs. Using a strengths-based approach, you’ll work positively with the people of Leicester to achieve better outcomes. You will also work in partnership with informal carers in enabling them to continue their caring role, completing assessments and sign posting to other agencies where appropriate.
You’ll also be expected to produce clear reports for court of protection cases, prioritise workload, meet tight deadlines, confront challenges, and make defensible decisions.
What you'll need:
We wish to recruit people who can bring a clear social care perspective and strong social work values to these challenging posts. The successful candidate will have substantial experience of working in at least one of the following areas, Learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, mental health issues, substance misuse issues, physical, sensory and age-related, with adults and their carers, in a paid or voluntary capacity or as part of their qualification.
In addition, you’ll be able to showcase knowledge of health and safety legislation with enough confidence to operate the concept of personalisation understanding the benefits this can have within integrated care.
You’ll need to be disciplined with yourself and others, have excellent organisation skills to prioritise your workload and be able to work under pressure in a busy and often difficult job role.
Furthermore, you’ll have great interpersonal skills. You’ll be able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people from varied and diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and educations in both verbal and written contexts. As a confident person you’ll be able to match your approach to the needs of each individual they are encountered with a flexible and no-nonsense approach.
Due to the nature of this role you’ll need to be registered with Social Work England, hold a valid driving UK licence, and will subject to an enhanced DBS check.
