Leicester is a growing city, and we want to ensure it is the safest environment for people living and working here. Our service is already valued by residents and contractors across the city for the quality of the service, but our aim is to grow a team that will hold a strong market share in the future. We are on an exciting journey to develop a comprehensive, efficient, and effective Building Control Service which enables our citywide construction schemes to be delivered safely and to published standards.
As a building control professional and experienced practitioner, you’ll lead our internal building control team. This leadership role will help shape the future of the team, and work across the public sector with our partners as well as with the private sector. A key role within our Regulatory Service, you’ll be tasked with keeping our city safe and working with our emergency services to do so.
You’ll have the business acumen to manage the team in a modern and competitive environment. You’ll have an in depth understanding of building regulations and be able to evidence this through an appropriate industry accreditation. Using technical knowledge of the area, you’ll be able to translate this into policy and practice in a way that the public can understand. Self-motivated, you’ll have the vision to create a new team, face challenges and create innovative solutions along the way.
You’ll work in an environment that offers plenty of opportunities to develop your expertise, trusts your judgement and encourages you to build a long and rewarding career. Therefore, we are prepared to invest professionally in the right candidate. Applications are welcome from both existing Building Control Managers and those that are progressing along their career either in the public or private sector.
On top of a competitive salary, you’ll be enrolled to our generous pension scheme which we’ll contribute up to £11,102 per year. In addition, you’ll receive an unrivalled holiday entitlement and paid business mileage. We'll give you a comprehensive induction and continue your development journey to enable you to do your best work. This is a hybrid role, meaning you can work from any location with some travel across the city to undertake site visits.
If you feel like you are the right candidate who wants to come on this journey with us, then we would like to hear from you.
