Leicester City Council has had a long commitment to tackling affordable warmth issues and continues to implement a range of projects to combat fuel poverty across the city. This work is of critical importance in addressing both the current cost of living crisis and the climate emergency that are key priorities for the authority.
As a Project Officer in the Energy Projects team, part of the Energy and Sustainability section of the Estates and Building Services division, you will be responsible for implementing the council’s energy and environmental strategies towards the city’s ambition to be net zero by 2030.
You will support and manage a range of projects relating to energy efficiency and the retrofit of properties across the city. You will be part of a small team currently delivering the Local Authority Delivery Scheme, Home Upgrade Grants and ECO4 Flex. You will be tasked with the promotion of the adoption of renewable technologies and have a positive influence on changing energy usage behaviours.
This is a full-time post and day to day activities will be a mix of remote and office-based working.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll assist in developing and implementing new projects, identify new funding opportunities, and bid preparation.
With your excellent organisational skills, you’ll arrange and attend events both local and national that are aimed at energy awareness and property retrofit.
Using your communicational skills, you’ll provide advice and guidance on energy efficiency to the public and a variety of stakeholders. Furthermore, you’ll monitor progress and prepare reports summaries for projects as required.
What you’ll need
For this post you’ll need previous project management experience, knowledge of an energy related area of work and experience in organising major events.
With your excellent communicational skills, you’ll have experience of public speaking, liaising with members of the public and also businesses.
