Would you like to play a key role in ensuring graves are suitably prepped and ready for burials? Join us as a Casual Cemetery Operative where you’ll play a key part in supporting the team to ensure the upkeep of our cemetery appearance by keeping them well maintained.
Join our specialist team of skilled cemetery operatives to undertake high quality horticultural work and grounds maintenance work to maintain and further improve the cemeteries within the city of Leicester.
You’ll be based at either Gilroes Cemetery or Saffron Hill Cemetery.
With the benefit of being a casual worker, you’ll have the opportunity to work shifts up to 22 hours per week but dependent upon seasonal growth and weather conditions.
What you’ll be doing
As a cemetery operative, you’ll work under the guidance of the cemeteries team manager, you will be required to assist in the development of soft and hard landscaping as well as other activities in the aspect of horticulture work, most of this role would be seasonal grass cutting which will involve the use of handheld petrol strimmer’s and ride on mowers.
What you’ll need
With previous experience in either horticulture or groundsman ship, you'll understand COSHH regulations and have knowledge of health & safety issues relating to area of work and HASWA. You'll have the ability to carry out manual handling and lifting heavy equipment and materials. You’ll be able to work without close supervision, whilst using your own initiative as well as working well in a team environment. You’ll be a highly safety conscious individual in the day-to-day tasks especially when using specialist equipment.
