Do you have extensive experience in fleet management? Do you have the ability to motivate others and to manage the provision of a safe, legal, efficient, and effective fleet service that is continuously improving to meet the needs of current and future customers?
A fantastic opportunity has opened to join our team at our fleet depot in Beaumont Leys. Working for the Fleet Service Manager, you’ll be managing, supporting and developing an establishment of approximately 9 fleet management staff, applying Council policies and procedures with regards to employment matters, attendance, recruitment, selection, motivation, training, development and discipline.
You’ll work mostly at our fleet depot however may be across sites and sometimes working agilely from home. This is a full time permanent post working 37 hours per week Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for day to day compliance of the Fleet Service with all legislation including the Operator’s Licence, overseen by the Fleet Service Manager. This position also includes responsibility for the internal and external hiring of vehicles and plant, contract management and providing best value for the authority alongside the development and management of a team of skilled support officers.
You’ll be over seeing the production of detailed specifications, working with services to deliver necessary usage and value for money in the procurement of vehicles. Working with the Workshop Manager you will also liaise with array of internal and external partners to ensure that the day to day running of the workshop and fleet operations runs smoothly including legal matters, MOT’s, management of the fuelling station including undertaking appropriate risk assessments.
You'll be reporting from the IT systems and analysing data to share with services using fleet vehicles to improve compliance, professionalism in driving and utilisation and compiling and presenting management reports and making recommendations for change/improvement.
What you’ll need
The ideal candidate will be decisive and able to persuade and motivate others to meet objectives. You’ll require an in-depth knowledge in Fleet Management including transport fleet legislation, guidelines, health and safety and policy sufficient to give expert advice to support colleagues, staff and managers.
You’ll be organised, able to work with limited supervision and under pressure and prioritise tasks to meet set objectives/ statutory and local timescales/ targets/ deadlines.
A willingness to work towards a Management CPC and IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
