Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service (LASALS) offer a large and varied programme of educational qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. In the Learner Services team, we provide the support function to ensure the service runs smoothly for both the curriculum teams and learners.
This is an exciting and opportunity for a recent IT graduate to join us to develop reports using applications such as Microsoft Reporting Services and SQL. You’ll have first-hand experience with support from the team to achieve your full potential. We provide opportunities to all staff to access relevant internal and external training to further enhance their career and learn new skills.
Predominantly based at the Adult Education College, you’ll be required to work at various locations across the city. This is a full-time, fixed term post for 12 months working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
Your Role
You’ll work closely with and support the Exams officer and Learner Services Manager in creating reports and dashboards that will provide crucial performance data to support the service in achieving its strategic priorities. Liaising with stakeholders you’ll gain an understanding of the reporting needs to build tools which will automate reporting and display data in a user friendly and meaningful way. Working pro-actively you’ll ensure reporting is highly accurate, credible and meets the needs of its users. You’ll be an important part of the team in providing tailored training on our reporting systems to upskill users across the service.
What you’ll need
You’ll have graduated within the past 24 months, having achieved a minimum of 2:2 degree or above in a relevant subject such as computing and IT. Using excellent communication skills, you’ll have the ability to engage and work with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders, both inside and outside the City Council. With proficient IT skills, you’ll be able to write professional reports and use spreadsheets to research, collect and analyse information. As an innovative thinker, you’ll be able to problem solve and work well within a team environment. You’ll have an enthusiastic approach to work, a willingness to learn and the ability to advocate for improvement and change.
