Live Well, is a specialist team based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre , which supports the residents of Leicester city to improve their health and wellbeing by offering support with smoking cessation, increasing physical activity, managing alcohol levels, healthy eating, and weight management.
This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Healthy Lifestyle Advisor to join our team and help clients through their journey to improve their healthy lifestyle behaviour. As a team, we work closely with clients with long term health conditions and support them in making a positive and sustained lifestyle choices.
Although based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre the post will require you to be mobile and deliver physical activity sessions across Leicester City. This is a permanent, full-time post working 37 hours per week on a rota basis which includes evenings and weekends.
As an enthusiastic Healthy Lifestyle Advisor, you’ll work on our newly formed walking programme which will include leading walks, planning walking routes and recruiting volunteers. Additionally, in accordance with NICE guidelines, you’ll deliver appropriate physical activity and exercise programmes within local community venues such as parks, leisure centres and community spaces as well as provide advice on variety of subjects such as healthy eating. You’ll maintain accurate and efficient records of the healthy lifestyle changes of client’s outcomes, which are in line with guidelines.
What you’ll need
With previous experience of client management, you’ll have knowledge of motivational techniques in the settings of physical activity and nutrition, including health and safety. You’ll have an Exercise to Music qualification and be willing to train towards becoming a walk leader. Using excellent interpersonal and persuasive skills, you’ll be able to motivate clients to improve their health and wellbeing, as well as be tactful when dealing with clients who at times may be lacking in confidence.
