Leicester City Council’s Sports Services are the leading provider of sport and fitness facilities within the city with nine sport, leisure and golf facilities, along with a range of parks and opens spaces for formal and informal activity.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join a team of highly motivated and passionate individuals to help deliver Active Leicester’s long-term vision to reduce high levels of inactivity and increase participation across the City.
Based initially at Leicester Leys Leisure Centre, you’ll have the ability to work across all leisure centre facilities as and when required. This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday including early mornings and evenings. On occasions you may be required to work on weekends.
What you'll be doing
As a dynamic Assistant Manager, you’ll support the General Manager in the management and performance of a leisure centre and develop a high performing centre team to deliver operational and financial targets. Leading a team of. 30 staff + temporary resources, you’ll undertake the full range of associated management activities, which includes monitoring budgets, targets, and key performance indicators, implementing quality systems that improve service standards and support the development of plans to improve performance. You’ll ensure that the leisure facility operates in line with industry Health and Safety guidance as well as the Council’s policy and procedures.
What you'll need
With experience of supervisory or management roles in leisure facilities managing, you’ll have a track record of improving performance in a leisure service area for example aquatics, sales, or health & fitness. You’ll have experience of managing staff performance and development as well as detailed knowledge of key performance indicators and their application and how they can be used to improve service. Using your knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and regulations you’ll ensure compliance is delivered across facilities in line with industry guidance and Leicester City Council policy and procedures. With the ability to self-manage, have a flexible approach, and demonstrate a commitment to Sport Service, you’ll create professional and positive working environment.
