Full Time / 37 hours / Fixed term until 31st December 2023 with potential to extend.
Listening to young people is very important to us. Our teams work to support and empower young people to be involved in and shape decisions that affect their lives. As a Senior Youth Advocate providing one to one support to 10-17 year olds, you’ll promote a whole family approach to engage and bring about change and improvements in children and young people’s education, attendance, and attainment.
This is a full-time, fixed term opportunity until 31st December 2023, however, there is the possibility of extension, depending on funding. Hours of work are 37 hours per week from Monday – Friday however, on occasion you may be required to work outside of standard office hours to visit students. Secondments are encouraged however, please gain permission from your line manager before applying.
What you'll be doing
As defined in our Reach Project Plan, you’ll join our team who aim to make measurable improvements to the lives of the young people we support. You’ll do this by delivering sessional work, group work programmes and whole family support using evidenced-based interventions that are proven to have a measurable impact on children and young people’s outcomes.
Providing mentoring support to young people at school, home and/or in their community. Advocating on the young person’s behalf to include attendance at constructive activities or alternative education provisions.
What you'll need
Most importantly, you’ll be able to work with our young people to improve their learning outcomes. Supporting vulnerable children and young people with diverse needs, you’ll have experience of delivering learning opportunities in a variety of settings. Using your experience in an education/youth or a youth justice setting, you’ll support parents and cares within the process. Providing a supportive environment where young people are put at the forefront of every decision.
