Are you passionate about supporting Leicester residents to develop skills and qualifications to achieve their potential?
Leicester Adult Learning offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. We have an enthusiastic student community, taught, and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff.
If you’re dedicated to lifelong learning and want to help learners achieve their potential, this is the opportunity for you! Join our professional, highly skilled and experienced team who support learners to achieve their vocational qualifications: Childcare, Teaching Assistant, Business Administration or Digital.
Based at the Adult Education College in the Skills for Work team, you’ll be required to travel around the city visiting placement venues.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll support learners to meet the Service and Awarding Body requirements to achieve a vocational qualification for employment or career progression. You’ll provide constructive feedback to enable learners to progress through the qualification. You’ll maintain a record of assessment as well as support with portfolio building. You’ll monitor learning and support learners either on a one-to-one basis or within a classroom setting.
As an internal verifier, you need to be familiar with Awarding Body assessment requirements and create/maintain a robust internal verification process. You’ll provide clear and constructive feedback to assessors to enable them to develop their own assessing practice. You’ll lead standardisation meetings, embedding purposeful standardisation activities and ensure that the quality assessment process reflects current good practice across the team and meets the expectations of the Service and Awarding Body.
What you’ll need
In addition to excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills, you’ll demonstrate previous experience of assessing and moderating vocational qualifications as above; assessing competencies within a workplace environment and have relevant occupational experience. You’ll have a good understanding of complex learning needs, support requirements and the impact that these can have on learner progress. Able to work on your own initiative and unsupervised, you’ll have excellent organisation and record keeping skills. You’ll be able to relate to a range and variety of people to establish a good rapport with adult learners.
As an assessor. You must have:
· Assessor Award: D32/D33, A1 or Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA)
As an Internal Verifier you must have:
· V1 or Training, Assessment, Quality Assurance (TAQA)
You’ll also have a minimum Level 3 relevant subject qualification and a minimum GSCE / Level 2 English qualification.
